Carne Mechada or shredded beef is the comfort food of Venezuelans. I know this as I am married to one. When this comforting stewed and shredded beef is cooked in bay leaf, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and cumin it makes the house smell so comforting. This easy shredded beef plays a major part in Venezuela’s national dish “Pabellon Criollo.” Pabellon Criollo consists of shredded beef, black beans, white rice, and fried plantains. Usually, this dish is accompanied by arepas and white cheese.
Vegetarian option available with shredded jackfruit.
