Murgir Jhol or Chicken Curry is a classic Bengali chicken dish usually served up as a Sunday special for the family to come together and enjoy. The defining characteristic of the Bengali-style chicken curry is the presence of potatoes, which, when cooked in the curry, become soft and succulent, full of all the juicy goodness of onion, garlic, ginger, coriander, yogurt, garam masala and our family secret spice - Kaffir lime leaves. Bengali curries have a heavy presence of ginger and a touch of sugar in all its curries. Enjoy a Sunday favorite from my childhood.
